Gala Purpose:

The purpose of Círculo de la Hispanidad’s Spring Gala is to raise funds to support agency programming and its Scholarship Fund.  Over twenty different programs and services are provided to children, youth, individuals and families through six central service areas including: Education & Career Services, Health, Housing, Crisis Intervention Programs, Violence Prevention and Youth Development. Services are offered out of three different office locations, including two in Hempstead and one in Long Beach, New York.  Círculo’s Scholarship Fund has provided Hispanic high school graduates with financial support in their pursuit of higher education.  Círculo has provided scholarships since its inception in 1980, helping youth to realize their dream to attend college.  The agency has distributed around $450,000 for this purpose.

Gala History:

Círculo initiated its Spring Gala in 2000, as the agency’s main fundraising event to support programming and scholarships.  However, the history of Círculo’s fundraising efforts began in 1981 through its Annual Summer Hispanic Festivals.    These festivals featured musical artists from different countries, ethnic food, folkloric dance, and art.  Círculo also sponsored several mega-festivals including one at Nassau Beach, in Lido, New York, featuring artists such as Marc Antony, Enrique Iglesias and others.  Funds raised were also used to support Círculo’s dream of having its own Center.  This dream was finally realized in 2010 with the inauguration of Círculo’s “Green Center”, in Hempstead, New York, a 35,000 square foot facility.
