Walk For Peace

Our 2026 Walk for Peace will be on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Círculo de la Hispanidad began its “Peace Walk to End the Silence on Domestic Violence” with a purpose to raise awareness about domestic violence in our community and to provide information to break the silence on violence.  Círculo holds the walk every fall on the Long Beach boardwalk at Riverside Boulevard. The event begins with a program including different speakers following by a walk on the Long Beach Boardwalk.

Círculo’s Salva Domestic Violence Program posts educational information on large posters throughout the boardwalk in both English and Spanish offering facts, statistical information, and resource information about domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence in our society.  These educational posters also include artwork by children in Círculo’s youth programs.

For additional information about the Peace “Begins with Me Walk” see the Special Events Tab.

Awards Night

Círculo’s Annual Awards Night

Círculo has proudly celebrated academic excellence for 45 years through its Annual Awards Night. This special event is dedicated to recognizing the academic achievements and outstanding efforts of student scholars from the Long Beach and Hempstead communities.

Recognizing Student Excellence

Awards Night specifically recognizes students from elementary through high school in the Long Beach School District. District Principals are asked to submit the names of students who have demonstrated high academic achievement and/or outstanding effort.

We are proud to recognize over two hundred students annually, including:

  • Hispanic scholars from the Long Beach School District.
  • Non-Hispanic students who have excelled or showed great effort, particularly those in the Dual Language Program and the Language Department.

This consistent recognition has had a significant impact on students’ education in Long Beach by fostering a culture where educational success is expected and celebrated.

🎓 Scholarship Program

A central component of the Awards Night Ceremony is the distribution of college scholarships. Círculo raises funds at its Spring Gala and other events to support youth scholars attending college.

  • Eligibility: Scholarships are open to graduating high school students from the Long Beach and Hempstead School Districts (where Círculo’s central offices are based). Hempstead students have been included in the scholarship process for the past twenty years.
  • Application Process: Qualifying students can access applications each spring. A volunteer committee reviews all submissions, interviews candidates, and uses a rubric to select awardees. Criteria for selection include volunteer work, academic achievement, and demonstrated effort.
  • Celebration: All scholarship awardees from both districts are honored during the Annual Awards Night Ceremony in June.

🗓️ Event Details

Awards Night is held annually in June at the Long Beach High School.

Please contact our office to learn more about this event or for specific details about the nomination and scholarship process.  We also welcome donations to sponsor a student scholar.
